About the Award
Is there an amazing woman out there who deserves recognition?
The Lesley Pearse Women of Courage Award is an annual event that was set up in 2006 to acknowledge ordinary women who have done extraordinary things. Each year we invite you to tell us about someone you know who has shown strength and dedication in their everyday life. This is isn’t necessarily climbing Everest, exploring the Amazon, or saving someone from a burning building. Maybe you know someone who has been dealt a poor hand in life – whether through illness, disability or abuse - but has shown courage and determination in turning that life around. Or it could be someone who has had a relatively comfortable life themselves, but has devoted her time to someone less fortunate; someone who has inspired or made a difference to others. This is your chance to showcase your friend, neighbour, relative or colleague and to let them know how much they are appreciated.
Five finalists will be selected by a panel of judges that will include Lesley Pearse. The winner will be chosen from this five and she and her family will be invited to London for a sumptuous awards lunch with Lesley, where she will be presented with a specially crafted commemorative award, a framed certificate and £200 of Penguin books. The four runners up will receive a framed certificate and £100 of Penguin books.
Let us know about an amazing lady you know and make a difference to her life by nominating her for this prestigious award. You can nominate on this site by downloading a nomination form or filling out the online form.
